Our Story

Power Device Corporation (PDC) was originally founded in 1964 with a 25,000 sq. ft. facility in Hicksville, NY as Data Device Corporation (DDC). DDC started with manufacturing high reliability electronics for naval, aircraft and space applications, including the Apollo program. By 1974, DDC outgrew this facility and built a new 50,000 sq. ft. facility in Bohemia, NY. As DDC grew, in 1980 we expanded the Bohemia facility to our current size of 130,000 sq. ft. Then in 2013, DDC acquired National Hybrid (NHi) a complementary electronics manufacturer of MIL-STD-1553 components. In 2015 DDC expanded its power solutions capabilities with the acquisition of UK based power supply design and manufacturing leaders, Pascall and XCEL. In 2016 DDC expanded its space market capabilities with the acquisition of Maxwell Microelectronics, a division of Maxwell Technologies, Inc. In 2017 we expanded our transformer solutions and capabilities with the acquisition of North Hills™ Signal Processing Corp and eventually peaked at 600 employees with 200,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing operations. In 2022 a decision was made to split DDC into two entities. DDC focused on Databus and Magnetics products and PDC focused on Space, Power and Motion Control Applications. This provides greater customer and product focus allowing the two organizations to continue introducing innovations enabling ever greater efficiency, reliability and performance for connectivity, power, and motion control applications.
